One of the key components to Alex Jeffreys Mentoring program, is regular brainstorming sessions. Why are these beneficial and what can we gain from them?
Brainstorming is a way to gather ideas, it can be done as an individual or can involve a group who are looking to develop ideas and problem solve. The aim is generally to develop as many ideas as possible and then go back and evaluate them at a later date. Ideas can be worked on changed and improved.
Brainstorming is a great tool in any situation to bring out ideas and stimulate creative though processes. It can often bring a shift in paradigm and thinking and enables many different minds and ideas to be brought together. It is incredibly beneficial to bounce your ideas and thinking processes of other people. This bouncing of ideas then may in turn spark the ideas of another individual.
Some of the benefits of brainstorming may include:
- Encouragement of creativity
- Expanding of thinking to see different perspectives of problem solving and idea development
- Everyone can be involved equally, every idea is a worthy one
- Brainstorming can help ideas to grow quickly
- It can dramatically increase productivity
- Can help to develop lateral thinking
So wether you are involved in a group as just an individual brainstorming can be a useful tool to develop ideas and solve problems. Please feel free to comment and add your ideas.

Hi Melanie
The blog post are great …..lots of variety
On the brainstorming subject i do six sigma (yes its as boring as it sounds) but there are loads of tools that you can use to csort out the ideas once you have brainstormed.
The initial idea is to throw anything you can on a piece of paper or board. Then use a tool called IN or OUT of the box to start to sort the ideas out into can do stuff and cant do stuff.
Then you can use a matrix to determine how hard or costly something would be to implement or how easy and cheap……
All sounds very boring but its a great way to sort your ideas or plans out.
Anyway see you in the training

Hey,
Rich, thanks for the comment on the blog posts!
I will have to try the ’six sigma’ as boring as it sounds!
Definitely need help sorting out ideas.
Cheers
Mel
Well said Mel.
The key to a good brainstorming session is to just write down whatever ideas come up, without judgement. Then as you suggest, go back later and evaluate each idea.
You will also find that as you go back over your list, this will often spark new ideas.
However you may also find that ideas will continue to flow well after your brainstorming session. So make sure you carry a pen and paper with you so you can record them.
Keep up the great work,
Rob
Hey Melanie,
Good post
I literally use brainstorming/mindmapping and note taking to remove some of the noise from my mind, with all my projects, ideas and other things whirring away if I dont get them down into some sort of order I will either forget them or simply get overloaded!
I also actually find that making notes at the end of the day (last 30mins of the day to write my ideas down etc) as well as planning tomorrow today actually helps me wind down and sleep better too!
I guess its a bit quieter up there in my head when I have everything written down and nicely orgaised
Hi Mel,
I have been doing brainstorming for blog post ideas, basically how can I approach exisiting blog posts I have written from different angles, so I can squeeze more mileage out of what I have already done. A bit lazy perhaps but there are only so many hours in the day, haha!

Hey Josh,
I know what it is like to have busy mind syndrome.
My husband is always trying to tell me to only take on one thing at time….lol never going to happen.
I have learnt so many amazing tools for life with the Alex Jeffreys course it’s amazing. I can finally figure out how to achieve everything with mindmapping, brainstorming and simply being better organised and focused, it’s great.
Thanks for the comments.
Cheers
Mel
